Gorgeous Mahorese women in salouva

The traditional Mahorese outfit with a thousand colors called “ salouva”. It’s an elegant outfit of the Mahoran woman. It is a large cotton garment tied around the chest, which falls to the feet.

How is it made up?

It consists of 2 parts: a large piece of fabric sewn on one side that  woman puts on and ties, most of the time, above the chest, and the kishali, shawl worn on the head or on the shoulders. The kishali is a Mohammedan veil, without religious connotation, made from the same material as the salouva. Almost all women bring out their salouvas on Friday, a sacred day among Muslims. Some women are made up with patterns on the face, traced with msizano.
