French activist Assa Traoré received an award at the Bet Awards for her fight.

Sunday, June 28, 2020, Assa Traoré received an award for her fight against racism and police violence. Indeed, she was rewarded by the American channel BET (Black Entertainment Television) for her years of struggle where she asked for justice for her brother Adama Traoré.

Justice for Adama

In July 2016, Adama Traore died of asphyxiation in a police station on his 24th birthday in 2016, following his arrest by the gendarmes at Beaumont-sur-Oise in the Val-d’Oise. His family has been asking for justice for 4 years. Assa Traore regularly organizes protests to demand justice for her brother and to raise awareness about racism and police violence. These peaceful protests attract thousands of people who want to change things. May justice be the same for all!
