Morocco: rest in peace! Little Rayan, 5 years old, fell into a well and died.
As parents, we are all saddened to learn of the death of 5 year old Rayan, who accidentally fell into a well in Morocco. Despite the efforts of the rescue workers, the people of Morocco and prayers, our little angel has gone to rest in heaven. May he rest in peace!
But what exactly happened? Was it an accidental fall?
“In a moment of inattention, the little one fell into the well I was fixing. I couldn’t sleep a wink all night.”
A race against time begins.
Help arrived and everyone mobilized to save the child. The rescuers worked day and night to get the child out of the well after five days. To keep him alive, they managed to bring him water and oxygen through tubes, according to the MAP news agency.

But despite strenuous efforts, he didn’t survive.
It took five days for the rescuers to reach the child, as the shaft was very complex. The rescuers had to first drill a huge crevice in depth and then a horizontal tunnel. Their progress was slowed down by the nature of the soil and some rocky and sandy layers.
In a statement, the royal office announced the death of the child.
“Following the tragic accident that claimed the life of the child Rayan Oram, His Majesty King Mohammed VI called the parents of the deceased, who died after falling into a well.”
An impulse of solidarity in Morocco and in the world
The sad story of little Rayan was a testimony to the solidarity of the Moroccan people and the generosity of many people around the world who prayed and hoped for his safety.
It has generated a lot of sympathy on social networks in the Maghreb and around the world as far as Iraq, Yemen, Canada or the United States, in all languages. We saw many hashtags #sauvezrayan #rayan at the top of the main Twitter trends.
