Keturah Ariel Nailah Bobo: Afro-American Painter
As an artist, it is my duty to make art that inspires, educates and defends my community. Nothing is more important in my art than this one. “
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Keturah Ariel Nailah Bobo is aware of the issue that strikes her community with the return to natural hair “nappy. “Schooling at home and inspired by a mother artist, Ketura aims to promote peace and positivity in a world. Witness to a society that stigmates frizzy hair, she tries to contribute with her paintings to changing the standards of society.
To perfect her natural gift, she leaves to study and in 2006 becomes a graduate of the school of art and design of the University of Columbus. To design her paintings, she uses acrylic, oil and digital media. Many of her illustrations illustrate the empowerment messages of black women and girls.
